St Mary’s Church of England Primary and Nursery is a high-performing, exceptionally diverse and deeply inclusive school at the heart of Southampton. Over the past five years, we have built a school of which we are immensely proud. Our children come to us from many different backgrounds, cultures and starting points, but our ambition for every one of them is the same: to flourish. When Ofsted visited in 2023, inspectors said: “Pupils flourish at this exceptional school.” That remains at the heart of St Mary’s today.
We believe that every child has a gift. Something they can be proud of, something that makes them shine and something they can share with the world. Our responsibility is to find that gift, nurture it and give every child the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to fulfil their potential. Our staff are the secret to our success. They know our children, believe in them and consistently go the extra mile to ensure that every child is known, valued and challenged to achieve their very best.
St Mary’s is more than a place where children come to learn. It is a community in which children belong, families are welcomed and difference is celebrated. As we reach the end of another busy half term, I would like to congratulate the children on their continued hard work, resilience and enthusiasm for learning. They have made a fantastic effort, and I hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved rest over the half-term break. Our Year 2 children have been busy getting creative in Art this week! 🌟
The children have really enjoyed designing and creating their very own mosaics, exploring different colours, shapes and patterns to produce some fantastic pieces of artwork! 🖌️🟦🟨🟥

Thank you to all our families for your generous Harvest donations and to everyone who has supported our collection. Your kindness reflects the compassion at the heart of our school community.
The children have been learning about Harvest as a time to give thanks for the food we eat and recognise the work of those who grow, gather and produce it. We have also been reflecting on the importance of sharing what we have and supporting others.
